Changes from the games
There are several changes to this server involving the names of various things. This is done to resolve conflicts with the way Showdown is coded to keep the premise of this server, make something more readable from the GBA ROM limitations they were originally conceived in, or were just plain bad names (see: Altoumu).
Puppet/'mon Names
- Gyokuto -> Reisen II
- Luize -> Louise
- Lolice -> Margatroid
- Ancestor -> Sendai
- MagiStones -> Magic Stones
- Alterisa -> Scarlet Witch
- Altoumu -> Sword Master
- Altuyuko -> Tiny Ghost
Move Names
All moves that use Touhoumon 1.8 types, but share a name with its Pokémon counterpart have a "2" appended to the end of them. (Example: Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2)
Due to the way Showdown is coded, you cannot have two things that share the exact same name. This is basically impossible to bypass as far as anyone knows, and for the foreseeable future will not be changed so people can recognize the move names easier.
This is NOT negotiable unless you can somehow come up with a reasonable way around it. Not even the Showdown Coding Discord is willing to come up with a solution, so perhaps don't try your luck there.
- Charge -> Charge Beam 2 (70% chance for SpA up, Heart-type)
- Heat Claw -> Beast Claw
- Draco Meteor (Illusion-type) -> Meteor Storm
- Sakuya's World -> Luna Dial
- Seal Needle -> Sealing Needle
Type Names
See the above. Some of these are functionally different from their Pokémon types anyway, and may go up against actual Pokémon using the original types. The distinction is arguably even more important here.
At least these don't have a "2" appended at the end.
- Fire -> Pyro
- Water -> Aqua
- Ghost -> Nether
- Flying -> Aero
- Ice -> Frost
- Dark -> Umbral
- Steel -> Metal
If a type is not listed above, it already had its own distinct name in 1.8 games.
Ability Names
- Hi Strength -> Unnatural Strength
- Barrier -> Magic Barrier
- Shadow Tag(DSatori) -> Beholder Eye
Item Names and Distinctions
- All type-booster items are using their full names from the wiki, instead of their truncated versions ingame. They still possess their 20% boost despite the format being set to Gen 3.
- The Shell Bell recovers HP equal to 1/5 of damage dealt instead of 1/8, just like in Purple.
- The Figy, Wiki, Mago, Aguav, and Iapapa berries recover 50% of maximum HP just like in Purple.
- The Starf berry activates at 1/2 or less HP remaining instead of 1/4. This is also a Purple-exclusive change.
- The Purple-exclusive item Dark Ribbon for Chibi Hina and Regular Hina is available.
- The Ice Ball for Chibi Cirno is available.
- The Lucky Punch for regular Ichirin has been renamed to Big Cloud, and given its own unique sprite.
- Power Ribbon and Stamina Ribbon are available to use two Bands when Item Clause is on. Special Bloomers are omitted because it's kind of weird and awkward to have such an item, and you should just use regular Choice Band.
Mystery Gift
Mystery Gift distributions for Purple are possible and have been implemented!
However, the following Mystery Gift puppets are NOT available on this server for blatant balance reasons:
- Lv1 Chibi Rin - enables 1HP Endeavor Zombie Fairy.
- Lv5 Chibi Aya with Bulk Up - Aya is already too good, and so is anything her chibi evolves into.
To see the specifications of the list of allowed Mystery Gift puppets, please consult the FAQ.
